What a lovely day with Daisy and Matt, first at the Church and then at the well-up-my-street @wellbeingfarm - animals? ✅ beautiful natural surroundings? ✅ ethical values? ✅ happy days!

They wanted a day that felt easy and natural - no poses, no pressure, no fuss. Just them, their people, and a few unexpected wedding guests (shoutout to the llamas, alpacas, and very enthusiastic sheep). After all the stormy weather the week before, the sun showed up just in time, like it knew it was their day to shine 🌞

Some favourite black and whites from H + P’s wed

Some favourite black and whites from H + P’s wedding at @stables_wedding_farm last year.

Why black and white? It’s hard to logically explain it, but I think for some images, it just brings a heightened feeling. No colour = no distractions, just the raw essence of the moment.

All that being said, I do love my colour images too, but that’s for another time!

Time to meet the man behind the lens…so here’s a few (very) random things about me:

1. My music taste is eclectic - hip-hop, d&b, Afrobeat, chilled electronic (Love Nightmares on Wax) My Spotify is a bit of a magical mystery tour!
2. I’m into mystical stuff and even did a two-year shamanic course. But shamanism isn’t all airy-fairy - it’s about grounding, nature, and finding answers. Magic isn’t just in the cosmos, it’s in trees, rivers and quiet moments🌿✨
3. I live in Todmorden, a UFO hot spot. There’s even a famous alien abduction case from the 80s (BBC Sounds Uncanny S1 E3)🛸
4. Born and raised in Manchester (btw it’s red! 🔴) then met my other half from Bradford. Now I have a weird Yorkshire-Manc hybrid accent that confuses people—including me
5. Love books but rarely finish them—too many interests, not enough time!
6. I’m a dreamer—daydreams & strange dreams, sometimes Lynchian levels of weird, maybe an influence on my work too 😆
7. As a kid, I barely spoke until I was 3. My mum got a speech therapist, who gave me a wormery to encourage talking. One of my first words? “worms” 🪱 Thanks Mum
8. I’m a film & TV lover - this has definitely influenced my photography - David Lynch, Kubrick, the Coen Brothers. Love Vikings, Yellowstone, Succession, and Curb Your Enthusiasm - Larry David is a legend! 🎥
9. My cat, Tara, was meant to be a girl…til the vet told us otherwise…kept the name 🐈‍⬛
10. My dog, a tiny Bichon/Maltese/Shih Tzu X, is named after Viking King Ragnar—& lives up to it ⚔️🐶
11. I ran the Manchester Half Marathon. My knees didn’t thank me
12. Love a good walk and mooch around the hills - camera in hand ⛰️
13. Love to travel—from, Asia to Europe. I love to practice street photography in new places, I go missing a lot, much to my wife’s annoyance!
14. I love socializing but also need time to recharge (preferably in another dimension)🌀
15. I love food. Human dustbin since birth—see baby pic

My style is about capturing real, unstaged moments—whether that’s weddings, branding or families. People book me for natural, documentary-style images that tell a story. No awkward poses, no forced smiles—just images that bring out your essence 📸

Ninedots award winner 🏅

Time for a good news story! I take great pride in my work and I’m always looking for those ‘unstaged’ moments. A lot of the time it’s the little ones that might seem insignificant and happen in between the obvious ones that stand out to me.

So when I captured this, I loved the tongue-in - cheekiness (if that can be a word!) to it. I’m a massive believer in showing humour in my work (as well as those poignant emotional moments), whether that’s a wedding, family shoot or just out and about - life is funny!

So a massive thankyou to the judges at @ninedotsco for recognising and awarding this image. Whilst capturing precious memories are the most important to me, to be recognised and awarded really does keep me going and is a lovely little 🍒 on top 😁.

I’m absolutely buzzing to say I’ve been included in the top 50 Ninedots wedding photographers of the year list. Honestly there’s nothing better than being recognised for a job that really doesn’t feel like a job to me as it’s always been a passion of mine to work visually, whether that’s through my wedding photography or personal photography, for me it’s all the same and I consider it my art form.

Thankyou to all the lovely people at Ninedots, you’re a fantastic community of photographers and educators and it’s great to be a part of it 🤩.
