I LOVED being Dianne and Steve’s Wedding photographer at the beautiful Hobbit Hill. Set against the rolling hills of the Ribble Valley, Hobbit Hill is a wedding venue that feels like stepping into another world. It’s said to have been a massive inspiration for Lord of the Rings writer J.R.R Tolkien .
It was such a lovely place to celebrate and being set amongst the woodland for the ceremony was absolutely stunning. I even started looking out for little magical beings amongst the trees I could feel it that much! But really, the magic was right in front of us with all the guests amongst us, giving their blessings to these 2 wonderful humans.
Games on the lawn made for some brilliant documentary moments – kids running around, whilst the adults got a well deserved drink. And everyone soaking up the sun and the good vibes. It gave me loads to play with creatively – as I’ve said before, weddings for me feel like a playground of unlimited photographic opportunities! My approach is always the same – I approach a wedding the same I would when doing street photography – looking out for layers and little stories happening in the corners of the frame, and Hobbit Hill’s grounds were perfect for that.
The evening came….and then the surprise. Back Chat Brass burst into the room shortly after the first dance and brought the energy right up. I’ve photographed them before, and they never disappoint! Some great dance moves followed and also some good old wholesome family moments too.
